About This Publication
This issue of NOTOS turns the focus to my own photographic journey. In the interview “Hikâyeler yaşamın sınırlarında...” I look back on forty-six years of photography, my long-term documentary work with people and communities, and my belief that the stories behind photographs are an essential part of the document. The issue also includes a photo-story presenting another dimension of this work.
From the Interview
“During the forty-six years since I began taking photographs, I have placed people at the centre of my work and followed their stories. Their stories contain teachings, colours and history. To document those stories, you have to enter their lives and, most importantly, be accepted by them. Throughout my work I have been able to achieve this and to continue my long-term projects.”
