Kapalıçarşı Ustaları / Masters of the Grand Bazaar

Published in Goldnews, the magazine of the Istanbul Chamber of Jewelers, in April 2009, this photographic work documents the masters of Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar and the working culture shaped around gold and jewelry.

The feature, titled Grand Bazaar Masters, brings together the stories of these craftspeople with my photographs. It reflects a world in which gold is not only a precious material but also the focus of skills, traditions and knowledge passed from one generation to another. The original publication was presented in Turkish and English.
