Fotoritim · 2012 Almanac No. 2
The 2012 Fotoritim Almanac No. 2 brought together selected work from photographers featured by the magazine during the year. My contribution, Neşe ve Hüznün Romanı (“The Novel of Joy and Sadness”), appears as a dedicated section beginning on page 88 of the printed almanac.
The work grew from a small photographic study I began in Kuştepe, Istanbul, in 1999. After moving to Istanbul in 2004, I continued the project for several years across Thrace and other parts of Turkey, photographing Roma communities, weddings, music, family life, work and everyday experience. The project became not only a photographic record, but also a long-term process of observation and encounter.
The almanac also credits one of my photographs as the image used for the presentation text. The complete original PDF is preserved below as the publication record.
