Shangri-La 香格里拉 Diaries

"Sun and Moon in the heart"

Shangri-La, formerly known as Zhongdian County, is the capital of Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. In Tibetan language, Shangri-La means "Sun and Moon in the heart". There live more than 10 ethnic minorities, among which Tibetan people have the largest population.

HPA and UNESCO award Ceremony was a good opportunity to visit this area. At an average altitude of more than 3,000 meters, the county is very difficult to be reached. Visiting traditional Nixi pottery village at the north, to be guest to the Shangri-La middle school for photo show to the children, visiting songzanlin Budist Momastery and old city Dukezong... All of them were nice experiences for me. Then I travelled to Dali 400 km to the south to see the old "Tea and horse road"
